I happily agreed to the extension and didn’t think much of it until later that night when I re-checked his rental and noticed that there was no extension made. The rental was for a duration of 2 days and on the 2nd day, “Peter” asked for a date extension. In the morning, I got the email that my vehicle had been picked up from the lot and that everything was good to go. I didn’t think much of it and fell asleep. He responded by saying, “No worries, I’ll go pickup the vehicle myself.” I tried calling him to explain the details but the phone line went straight to a busy tone. I explained that I would call him an Uber to the lot from his house so that he could pick up the car. Initially, he paid extra to have my car delivered to an address, but I wasn’t in California and had no means to do this. I responded to him immediately and told him that the lot in which we keep our cars would not open until 8AM and that he would have to wait until then. A d *****bag man by the name of Peter sent in a request to rent my vehicle at 2AM. With a combination of market research and smart pricing, my cars were getting rented with around 90% utilization.įast forward to my rental on December 20th, 2015. From January 2015 to January 2016, I was able to add 13 new vehicles to my “fleet” and business seemed to be booming. Often times, it was rented on a monthly basis to some users. By the end of February, my BMW was rented 29/30 days and continued that trend till December 2015. Initially, I listed my BMW 3 Series Hybrid on the site and it started to get rented quite often. In January 2015, I started to list my cars on Turo. A car that isn’t rented doesn’t make me any money. This actually helps me out because I’m able to undercut the market and rent out my cars more often. I suspect it’s because they think their car is worth more than it really is. Many people list their cars on the site but at the same time, don’t really know how to price them. While buggy, the interface is very easy to use. I stumbled upon this app last January and immediately saw the potential in it. Like Airbnb does with houses, Turo (formerly known as RelayRides) is an application that enables people to rent out their second car that they might not be using to other users.
